Function joins Fashion
Sportswear and Haute Couture – Ballet meets Big City
These clothes are independent of the location. They can be worn everywhere: in the ballet studio or New York’s nightlife.
In cooperation with one of the world’s leading sportswear manufacturers, master’s graduate Kerstin Dorst analysed fashion trends and used the results to develop a collection that perfectly combines functionality and fashion. The combination of textile technologies and an expressive design language creates something new that appeals to both fashion-conscious and sporty customers: sport meets haute couture.
New communication technologies have an enormous influence on the future success of a brand: blogs, online fashion shows and live streams change the customer, and the young generation develops from ‘following the crowd’ to ‘self-affirmation’. The successful brands of tomorrow are, therefore those that effectively adapt to changing customer needs.
Growing competition and future trends
Especially in the area of fashion and sports, competition is continuously growing, which is why it is essential to understand the wishes of the end customer as best as possible. As a result, more and more fashion labels are venturing into the “casual sportswear” segment, while sporting goods manufacturers are addressing current fashion trends.
Kerstin Dorst’s final thesis generates a sporty collection that adapts to the changing international demand by building a bridge between functional materials and a high-end fashion collection.
